Rotten Staff is a Colossal Weapon in Elden Ring. The Rotten Staff scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for those who want a Strength/Dexterity hybrid melee build.

The Rotten Staff weapon can be found at the following location: Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: Dropped by the Putrid Avatar patrolling the ring walkway in the east. To reach this walkway, head out of the Prayer Room Site of Grace and jump onto the second buttress (concrete beam) connecting to a tower. Descend the tower and use the ledges on the bottom to reach the ring walkway. [Elden Ring Map here] Video Location Additional drop, at patch 1.05 the other Putrid Avatar in Elphael (near the Inner Walls Site of Grace) can drop the weapon.

Completely identical to the skill of the Staff of the Avatar.
This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War.
Cannot be buffed with Weapon buffs.
Rotten Staff can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones.

Sell Value: 500 Runes
A non-Faith, purely physical variation of the Staff of the Avatar.
Only the physical swings from this weapon cause Rot buildup. The weapon Skill cannot inflict Rot.
NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, Colossal Weapons poise damage has been reduced.
