A gamer has found what appears to be an incredibly rare Xbox 360 console sitting at their local GameStop. Microsoft has made all kinds of unique variations of its consoles over the years, including the Xbox 360. Sometimes these special consoles have been bundled with blockbuster game releases, but other times, they have been given away as a part of a promotional campaign.
Microsoft giving away unique Xbox console variants is a practice that continues to this day. Just recently, Microsoft revealed a special Palworld-themed Xbox Series S console that it is giving away along with four controllers based on Pals from the popular open world survival game. These custom Xbox consoles are extremely rare since they are only produced in limited quantities and only available through giveaways, which makes it incredibly exciting whenever one is found in the wild.
This is seemingly what happened with Reddit user Active_Ad308, who appears to have found a super rare Xbox 360 console variant at GameStop. Listed for just $109.99, the console seems to have been made as part of a promotional effort for Nike+ Kinect Training, an exercise game that was released for the Xbox 360's Kinect peripheral.
Some users in the comments have questioned the legitimacy of the console, believing it to be a custom job instead of the real deal, but either way, it's an interesting find. Now that the Xbox 360 is officially retro, the console, its games, and everything else associated with it have been popping up more frequently in thrift stores.
Gamers can get some incredible Xbox 360 game hauls for little cash, making now an ideal time for anyone looking to complete their Xbox 360 collection to start buying used games. Used Xbox 360 consoles can be found at pretty low prices, too. Sometimes these old Xbox 360 consoles even have some nice surprises in store for those that pick them up.
For example, another Reddit user recently got their hands on an old Xbox 360 console that had the classic Blades dashboard still installed. With the Xbox 360 Blades Dashboard running the risk of eventually going extinct, it will be interesting to see how those consoles in particular go up in value on the secondhand market.
Nostalgic Xbox gamers will definitely want to keep an eye out at GameStop and secondhand stores, as they may very well stumble on a big find like this. In the meantime, those focused on modern console offerings can expect Microsoft to continue releasing custom Xbox Series X/S consoles.
