Flails are great backup weapons for builds heavily invested in dexterity when coming across enemies with high resistance to slash and pierce attacks. Enemies with said resistances often have an innate weakness to strike attacks which dexterity weapons often lack, making flails a perfect backup plan for areas or bosses where dexterity users usually struggle with low damage and/or attacks bouncing off the enemies. Due to its slower attacks than most dexterity weapons, it might require some time to get used to the attack patterns, but comes with higher stagger rates than most lightweight weapons. A flail can also be used by a typical sword and board character with heavy investments into shields and armor, but going by dexterity as a main stat in place of the typical strength. As such when flails stagger an enemy, the cunning player can swiftly swap their main weapon to a dagger (such as Misericorde) with high critical stat for a finishing blow with impressive damage.
