Monster Hunter Wilds: Best Gathering Build

There's more to Monster Hunter Wilds than just fighting. Players will also need to gather various materials from the world, from plants used as medicine to metal ores for armor and even berries for making ammunition. This can be a tedious process, but thankfully, players can make armor sets dedicated specifically to gathering.

Gathering resources is an activity that's easy to overlook, but if you want to get materials like Fucium Ore in MH Wilds, you'll need to source materials yourself.

Here are a couple of Gathering sets players can use for all stages of the game.

Low Rank/Early High Rank Gathering Set for MH Wilds

This is a gathering set that caters to players who are yet to reach (or have already reached) High Rank in MH Wilds.

The armor pieces here are very accessible, requiring only very little farming and grinding, though they may not be enough to cover everything that one would want from a gathering build.

Just the armor pieces by themselves grants the following skills:

  • Botanist 3 - Increases the amount of gathered herbs, nuts, plants, insects, seeds, and mushrooms
  • Neopteron Alert (Honey Hunter) - Increases the amount of Honey you get from gathering points

To round this setup off, craft and equip a Geology Charm 3 to get the Geologist skill, which increases the amount of items you get from bone piles, mining outcrops, and special item gathering points.

Alternatively, replace Leather Headgear and Leather Mail with Chainmail Headgear Alpha and Chainmail Armor Alpha , then slot-in some Geology Jewels in your armor.

Late High Rank Gathering Set for MH Wilds

This one uses more decorations and armor pieces made from trade-only items like Dalthydon Wool.

Players will get more mileage out of this MH Wilds gathering build compared to the previous one, but it'll likely take a while before one can assemble all the decorations and armor pieces needed for it.

To summarize, this set maximizes the amount of stuff you get from all gathering points while preventing you from going hungry, removing the need to eat any meals or rations for uninterrupted gathering.

It'll also prevent Vespoid carcasses from getting destroyed when killed.

Intimidator 3 should prevent monsters from attacking you when they spot you. However, since there are monsters that ignore this skill, players will still need to rely on their Ghillie Mantle for such situations. The Tool Specialist skill (granted by Maintenance Jewel 2) reduces the cooldown of all mantles in MH Wilds, making it especially good for gathering builds like this.
