What took the spotlight during State of Play Japan?Tonight's PlayStation State of Play was a little bit different to the ones we've had in the past as it was focused primarily on games hailing from Japan and across Asia. (Hence Sony naming it 'State of Play Japan'.) This makes it perfect for any RPG fans out there and, having written that, I really hope there's at least one RPG or else I'm going to look a little bit silly…

(Hence Sony naming it 'State of Play Japan'.) This makes it perfect for any RPG fans out there and, having written that, I really hope there's at least one RPG or else I'm going to look a little bit silly…
Whether you've skipped the show or are looking for an announcement rundown, take a walk down below to find all of the featured games alongside trailers.
Tonight's State of Play began with a look at Dragon Quest VII Reimagined - the remake of the original PlayStation game. The trailer gave us an excellent look at the new graphics - both in cutscenes and outside of them! This includes a look at how battles will play out in this return to Estard.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will be released on 5th Feburary 2026.
Next up it was time for a cosy game! Inkonbini: One Store. Many Stories is set within a convenience store. Here you play as the clerk, taking care of the store itself and the customers who visit. You can even collect capsule toys from the machine outside!
Inkonbini: One Store. Many Stories will be released in April 2026.
It was then time for the next installment in the Coffee Talk series! This time we're leaving Seattle and heading to Tokyo. (If you couldn't guess from the title.) Here you'll serve a new selection of supernatural, including beings from Japanese folklore like the Kappa, and human customers alike. The Coffee Talk mechanics of brewing drinks and helping customers solve their problems returns.
Coffee Talk Tokyo will be released on 5th March 2026.
The first of two new BrokenLore titles, UNFOLLOW is a first-person horror game themed around social media. Playing as Anne, you'll have to use your smartphone to escape the horrors you've been trapped within.
BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW will be released on 16th January 2026.
Our second BrokenLore title is BrokenLore: Ascend. Keeping to the first-person horror theme, Ascend brings a new climbing mechanic. Join Ren and Yui as a climb of the Tokyo Tower goes more than a little spooky... Though I guess if you want to go viral online, running into the terrifying Rokurokubi far above ground is a good way to do it.
BrokenLore: Ascend will be released in the summer of 2026.
Keeping with the horror theme, we got a look at the remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly next. It's time to return to Minakami Village where a not-so-good ritual takes place. Though if you escape the village everything should be fine, but doing so will be a little more than difficult thanks to those creepy ghosts and other ghouls.
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake will be released on 12th March 2026.
Our next game was also from Koei Tecmo Games and it finally broke the horror game lineup the State of Play had been on. It did with this an electric guitar solo and footage of warriors smashing their way through hordes of enemies. That's right - it was a look at the Dynasty Warriors: Origin Visions of Four Heroes DLC!
Dynasty Warriors: Origin Visions of Four Heroes DLC will be released on 22nd January 2026.
It was then time to head to the race track to take a look at the Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack DLC. This update will bring a 24-hour race to offer what the developers hope will be a truly difficult racing experience.
The Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack DLC will be released on 4th December 2025.
MotionRec is an upcoming action puzzle game where you can use your recorded action to make your way past all types of obstacles. It's got a cute retro look and some really cool looking mushrooms!
MotionRec will be released in Spring 2026.
Wandering Sword will be arriving on PlayStation 5 as a complete edition, so, if this game caught your eye in the past, know that this version comes will every piece of DLC. This pixel art game explores an open-world version of anicent China as you go on a quest to become a hero. Though there are 20 endings you could reach!
Wandering Sword will be released on 28th May 2026.
No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files follows the adventures of Kaname Date and the AI in his left eye. (Specsavers really pushing the boat out there...) He's trying to track down the kidnapped internet idol, Iris, and that will involve solving a variety of different puzzles.
No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files will be released on both PlayStation 5 and 4 on 26th February 2026.
It was back to the race tracks again with Tokyo Xtreme Racer next! Though this time it's more about racing though the streets of Tokyo rather than the track. You'll also be able to use the Spirit Point system to break down your rival's mindset and take first place!
Tokyo Xtreme Racer will be released on 26th February 2026.
Once Upon A Katamari is getting DLC! (Which means I had to listen to that really annoying sound again... Sorry. Not sorry.) The first is called Katamari Damacy Series Dance Dance Remixes, while the second is called Katamari Damacy Series Neo Remixes. Both will bring new music tracks and accessories to the game.
Sonic is going to be hanging out with Pac-Man in this DLC for Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac! You'll be able to explore Sonic themed levels at Sonic speed while wearing a frankly terrifying Sonic costume as Pac-Man. Even Dr. Eggman has turned up for a boss battle.
Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac: Sonic the Hedgehog Collaboration Content has been released today! That's 11th November 2025.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger may have only been released last month, but we're now getting a look at the first batch of DLC heading its way. This will bring new Digimon to the game and Episode Pack 1 Alternate Dimension for anyone looking for additional story content.
Digimon Story Time Stranger - Episode Pack 1: Alternate Dimension will be released in Winter 2025.
Super Robot Wars Y is also getting its first round of DLC. This DLC will include three titles - Galactic Whirlwind Bryger, The Big O and Futo PI: Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull. This all includes new area missions and playable units for you to enjoy.
Super Robot Wars Y DLC 1 will be released on 21st November 2025.
The Giant Halberd Dragon Gogmazios will be added when Monster Hunter Wild Free Title Update 4 arrives! While we only got an incredibly short look at this new monster, it certainly does look dangerous! There will also be additional to the endgame and seasonal content.
Monster Hunter Wild Free Title Update 4 will be released on 16th December 2025.
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea and races alongside Sonic? SpongeBob SquarePants! Didn't think I'd be writing this tonight, but SpongeBob SquarePants is being added to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on November 20th 2025.
Next up we got a look at the new trailer for Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse. In this 2D roguelike game, you play as a little witch who is using her cursed hat to defeat the enemies who come across her path. You can even embody the monsters you encounter! The game lets you embark on this adventure alone or with up to four player in online co-op.
Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse will be released on 5th March 2026.
BlazBlue Entropy Effect X is an upcoming roguelite game where you can play as 14 character from the Blazblue franchise. The trailer gave us a look at some of these characters, including Ragna and his really big sword.
BlazBlue Entropy Effect X will be released on 12th February 2026.
Damon and Baby may sound like another horror title, but it actually promises to be quite a sweet adventure. With guns. It's going to offer a mixture of twin-stick shooting and exploration as you shoot your way through levels as a damon carrying a baby on his back.
Damon and Baby will be released on PlayStation 5 and 4 in early 2026.
Kyouran Makaism is a new 3D action RPG where you'll be able to transform 16 of the enemies you defeat into Familiars. After this transformation, they'll aid you in a variety of ways - from using special attacks to transforming into weapons.
Kyouran Makaism will be released on 29th January 2026.
If you're looking for an anime-styled tactical shooter, then Fate Trigger might be for you. In the trailer for the State of Play, we got a look at two new characters - Fally and Tata. Though Tata is definately the more interesting choice considering she's a cat riding what is clearly a killer robot. The trailer also gave us a look at a new map.
It was time to visit a realm of high fantasy with the Octopath Traveler 0 trailer. This trailer gave us a great look at the new pixel world you'll be able to explore as the various travelers you'll meet along this journey. We also got some small insights into the story and some great combat action. Alongside taking a look at some of the game's villians (I highly doubt the creepy actor is a hero), the demo was revealed to now be available and, if you play, you'll be able to carry over your save file.
Octopath Traveler 0 will be released on 4th December 2025.
From high fantasy to the realm of comic books - Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was up next! In this trailer, we got a look at some of the playable characters, including Spider-Man and Ghost Rider. The trailer also included a look at two of the new stages - X-Manison and Savage Lands. This Marvel fighting game will give you the chance to battle your favourite heroes in true comic-book style!
The closed beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be running between 5th December to 7th December 2025.
Elden Ring Nightreign, the multiplayer spinoff of the Souls game we all know and love (question mark), was released back in May of this year. Unlike its predecessor though, players won't have to wait long for the DLC! Though Kadokawa, FromSoftware's parent company, had already given the game away by announcing it was arriving in March 2026 last week.
Well we now know for certain that The Forsaken Hollows DLC will be released on 4th December 2025.
The trailer gave us a look at some of the new monsters you'll be battling in The Forsaken Hollows, including what looks like angelic foes (I doubt they're friendly) and some sort of cool dead tree man. That might have been me mistaking some scenary though... We even got a small glimpse of a new playable character. This man seems to wield both the written magical word and the sword!
The showcase ended with a look at a new gaming monitor with an in-built DualSense Charging Hook. Don't get too excited about this 'exciting' final announcement though... At the time of writing, this monitor will only be available in Japan and the US. You could always import it I guess?
Hope you enjoyed State of Play Japan! I'm going to read some of my book before bed...
